James Harden fo' MVP
I'm James Harden. He's just a stud. And while everybody outside the state of Texas has doubted the Rockets and Harden "The Beard" finds a way to get it done. You may be wondering why I'm writing these so late and it's because I just watched the "real MVP" will his Rockets to a gutty 119-107 victory over the Clippers to tie up the series 3-3 and force a game 7. And while he had a poor night of shooting (5/20 fg) he was the leading scorer for the Rockets. The even better thing, was that Harden had the flu and was still able to lead his team to a victory. Yeah I don't think the little baby-faced Steph Curry could put up 23 points with the flu. James Harden does more than just score. He contributes by distributing, rebounding, and being sort of a distraction as the opposing team always has to keep up with him and follow everything he does or he'll torch you for about 30 points if he doesn't. And while he doesn't shoot the 3pt. as good as Steph, Harden lives at the "money stripe" or the free throw line. Harden gets to the line about 10.2 times a game and while Harden uses this to get points, it also helps as it puts the other team in foul trouble. Yes, I agree Steph Curry is very good, but I just don't think he really deserved the MVP after what I've seen the last 3 games from Harden. And even while Harden didn't play the 4th quarter when the Rockets came back, I still believe he had a lot to do with the Rockets win. And now let's get into why I like James Harden. Yes I can probably admit Steph Curry is better than him but I have a better experience with James Harden. I have his signature pair of basketball shoes and I just love em. They're one of my favorite shoes I own because they are comfy and they are cool looking. While Steph Curry, I don't have his shoes, and I don't know, I possibly could be giving Steph the short end of this debate but I just feel closer and more connected to Harden. So overall I feel like my likes and dislikes, are based on what I've experienced in the past and because I've always had good things with James and his shoes, I just think that's probably why I give James a slighter edge on who I like better. Hope to talk to y'all soon!

I agree partly with your opinion of James Harden for MVP because he is definitely a great player with a great step back game and knows how to draw the fouls with deception. However, I don't believe he should be MVP because while his team was all hurt, his statistics in the games were relatively high because he was able to shoot more and have the ball in his hands throughout the whole game, which would cause his statistics to be high. This would be seen as a fault in the MVP race and due to Stephen Curry's team being solid all around and average scoring, he was able to score high numbers with less shot attempts and the ball in his hand than Harden. I also like the "Run the Ones" shoes that Harden was granted by Nike because of their sleek design and ability to make sharp cuts with his low top design. Overall, Harden didn't entirely deserve the MVP just because of the ball being in his hand the whole game and him making all the plays.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dillon in the sense that although Harden is one of the NBA's elite players, he doesn't necessarily deserve the title of the league's MVP. Harden had a great season while elevating his team to new heights. However, Stephen Curry outplayed Harden this season. Although Curry has a far greater supporting cast in the Golden State, his ability to knock down shots along with great ball handling skills and superior defense raises his team's overall performance. Harden doesn't have the team around him like Curry, sure. But Curry's versatility makes him that much better than Harden.
